Devanagari: अन्नमय कोष ISO15919: annamaya kōṣa also written as annamaya kosh, annamay kosh

Anna means food. The gross material body is nurtured by the food we eat. The body only works properly when it gets all the nutrients it needs in the proper quantities. Before transcending the annamaya kosha, all types of food and drink will leave an impression on our mind. For example, consuming tamasika and rajasika foods will make your mind more rajasika and tamasika, that is, less spiritually inclined. These gunas therefore impede the speed of your devotional practice.
