According to the Vedas, Shri Krishna is the original source of all descensions, making Him the one and only avatari. The distinction between the avatari and the avataras is based on the manifestation of power. As avatari, Shri Krishna exhibits all powers simultaneously. Although His descensions possess all powers, they only exhibit what is specifically needed for their given purpose at that time.
