A generic term used for an abode or realm. Each avatara has Their own loka in the divine realm. This is where the avatara resides eternally.

In a brahmanda, there are fourteen major lokas - seven upper abodes and seven lower abodes. The seven celestial abodes are: Bhuloka, Bhuvaloka, Svaloka, Mahaloka, Janaloka, Tapaloka and Satyaloka (also called Brahmaloka). The seven lower abodes are: Atalaloka, Vitalaloka, Sutalaloka, Talatalaloka, Mahatalaloka, Rasatalaloka and Patalaloka. In addition, there are primarily 28 narakas as well.
