Devanagari: मनुष्य ISO15919: manuṣya

All descendants of Manu are collectively called manushya.  They are also called manav (Devanagari: मानव ISO15919: mānava) which has the same meaning as manu, and nara (Devanagari: नर ISO15919: nara) which refers to a man or human being.

The manushya form is important due to its uniqueness. Unlike other species which are bhoga yonis (species of enjoyment/suffering), the human form is a karma yoni (species of action), giving it the unique capacity to perform new karma and attain God-realisation.
