LEARN MORE
The literal translation of prasada is "grace" or "mercy" in practice. Once an item is enjoyed by the Divine, it is distributed to devotees as a tangible form of grace. While commonly associated with the remnants of food offered to a Deity or Saint, prasada also includes any object used by them, including garments or jewellry worn by the Deity, flowers or garlands that adorned the Deity, and so on. Uddhava, the childhood friend of Shri Krishna, declared that he will overcome the invincible maya shakti by using things used by Shri Krishna as His prasada.
