Devanagari: संस्कार ISO15919: saṁskāra also written as sanskaar
Every thought that enters the mind and every decision we make leaves an impression on the antahakarana (mind). These impressions are called samskaras.
LEARN MORE
This process starts from infancy. This is why people take their young children to their Guru and make them bow at the Guru's feet. Such actions create positive samskaras in the child. These impressions continue into future lives as well. For example, from childhood, people naturally prefer certain sleeping positions, enjoy specific types of food or like certain colours. These are all influenced by past samskaras.
