This is a superior path to its counterpart, preya marga, the path of the pleasant. Both these paths have been in existence since eternity, presenting the soul with a constant choice. Since the soul is superior to the material body, the pursuit of the soul's divine desire (shreya) is inherently superior to succumbing to the fleeting desires of the mind (preya).
