This is one of the conditions that should be fulfilled by the person you choose as your Guru. While being shrotriya is a fundamental condition for a spiritual teacher, knowledge alone is insufficient. One should not settle for a Guru who is merely learned in scriptural texts. A true Guru must fulfil two additional, and even more critical, conditions: he must be able to explain spiritual concepts in a manner that the disciple can truly understand, and he must be God-realised, brahmanishtha, that is, he has attained divine love and has practical realisation of God.
