Evidence is cited from the following three sources: shruti prasthana - consisting of the Upanishads, smriti prasthana - consisting of the Gita and nyaya prasthana – consisting of the Vedanta. A material mind has limited material experience and only partial knowledge of material rules. With such a mind, divine rules cannot be learned or understood. The Vedas are the final authority in Sanatan Dharma. Since they are God-like, they cannot be understood by anyone. Nevertheless, to begin spiritual practice, one needs to acquire knowledge of spiritual concepts and principles, tattvajnana. To know spiritual truths, one must take the aid of shabda pramana. This is the only way.
